Abstract
The CIHR Institute of Genetics (CIHR-IG) holds a conference annually. The registration web site and application allows participants to register for the conference on-line. In addition to a registration area, there are pages containing pertinent photos, and information about the prior conference, and the upcoming one. The registration process is open from June to November (at the time of the conference) each year. The registration section would be closed from November to June, but the rest of the site is still be available. The web site is completely mirrored in English and French (all content provided by CIHR-IG). Part of the registration is the ability to upload a photograph.
Registering scientists enter registration information and receive a confirmation number. Registrants are not able to modify their existing registration information, but they can either re-enter information into the registration area, quoting their confirmation number, or they contact the conference organizers directly by email or phone. On a regular basis, information is downloaded and forwarded to conference organizers, suitable for uploading into a Macintosh Excel file.
Summary of CCB's involvement
CCB staff performed user requirements gathering, designed and developed the database schema, and hosts the web site. The design of the web site, and all content were provided by CIHR-IG. CCB regularly provide CIHR-IG staff with current registration information, and summary information suitable for the creation of statistical graphs.
